Hail causes significant damage in Tarrant County after overnight storms

Parts of North Texas felt the effects Thursday of overnight storms, which brought dangerous winds, large hail and the risk of flooding.

The overnight weather brought 2 to 3.5 inches of rain across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, KDFW-TV (Fox 4) reported

The heavy rainfall also caused the weather service to issue a flood warning for Dallas, particularly at White Rock Creek near Greenville Avenue. The warning went into effect just before 7 a.m. Thursday and expired at noon.

The overnight storms brought up to 70 mph wind gusts in parts of North Texas and tornado warnings Wednesday night in some areas.

There were several reports of baseball-sized hail between Azle and Keller, the weather service said, causing significant damage. The largest hail — roughly 3.25 inches — hit Keller around 8:40 p.m., destroying windows in homes and cars.
